Based on our popular Swedish hearts pattern, this ornament is glazed in shades of purple, blue, red and white. The Swedish hearts design is derived from a 16th century carved wooden tool that held flax during spinning. A simple silver cord completes the ornament for ease of hanging.
The design was initially drawn on paper and then hand-carved it into plaster before making a series of rubber and plaster production molds. Each ornament is RAM-pressed and finished by hand. After a bisque firing to 1900 degrees, each section of the ornament is carefully glazed using a bulb syringe before the final glaze firing to 2150 degrees.
Size: 2.75″ square. Made in the USA
The clay and glazes are lead-free and food safe.
Many of the tiles and pottery at One Acre Ceramics are created in the Arts & Crafts style of the early 1900s. These designs are heavily influenced by classic Arts & Crafts iconography, including illustrations from the Keramic Studio, a periodical of the era.
