This stunning tile is adapted from a presentation drawing Frank Lloyd Wright submitted to "Liberty" magazine as one of twelve cover designs in 1927. Each design is a study in geometry, asymmetry and color.
However, the editors thought the designs to be too "radical" and they were never used. The May Basket is an abstract geometric motif representing flowers, fruits and streams of ribbons in celebration of Spring.
The May Basket tile is displayed in a Oak Park frame by Dard Hunter.
