About Pewabic Pottery:
Pewabic Pottery was founded in 1903 during the height of the Arts and Crafts movement. The artisans hand make everything from the clay to the glazes in the National Historic Landmark building in Detroit. Each tile is notched for wall hanging, and every piece is stamped with the year of production, Pewabic logo and a mark of the artisan who made it. For over a century the signature Arts and Crafts glazes produce a range of variation within each color thus ensuring each piece is unique. Some variation can also be expected in the height, width and form of each handmade vessel.
Each Pewabic Pottery piece is skillfully handcrafted by staff dedicated to beauty and quality. Every tile is pressed from an original plaster mold and glazed by hand in the historic Pewabic Pottery. Each Pewabic vase follows in a long tradition of wheel-throwing stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces using traditional methods.
This handmade process gives each Pewabic item its own unique character, while still being an accurate reproduction of the original historic design.
